My favourite past-time in Ipoh is pigging out. What else? Stuffing myself silly with my childhood comfort food. And great and healthy stuff too. But one thing that most Ipoh residents or those dispersed to other parts of Malaysia but coming back regularly is the upgrading of these simple coffee shops stall food. Meaning its more expensive but with air-con and better and cleaner environment.
Nam Fatt is one of them. Air-con comfort is really good. Leisurely pace and without the sweat-shop kind of feeling. Nam Fatt offers Beef Noodles and Beef Stew besides the ever popular fish balls and Yong Tau Foo. It comes in the form of all kinds of vegetables and soy products slather with a generous portion of fish paste.
And a bowl of beef noodles! The broth was light. 6/10.
Claypot Stew Beef. Its worth ordering as it is so hard to get beef in Ipoh Chinese eateries. This pot lack the zinnng confining to being average fare. I prefer it with thick sauce and more gelatinous. 6.5/10.
Another beautiful Ipoh dish. Ipoh Choy Sum that is soft almost devoid of fibers and sweet to the bite!. 8/10. And for those who loves vege 9/10. The best Ipoh Choy Sum from the farms nearby. Soft no-fibre stalks and tender packed with the esters peculiar to Choy Sum. Really missed this smell! Goes very well with Beef!
Prawn Rolls came piping hot with thick succulent
prawns. You guess it the soy skin was crispy and thin allowing one to enjoy the
prawns with a crunch. Really good. 9/10. Must order!
Combining
fresh fish paste and bean curd skin will create wonders. The darker brown
Sengkuang pieces is my favourite. Wonderful with curry noodles too!
Wow! The Yee Wat (Parang Fish Paste) was
superb. Springy and pack with fresh fish aroma.
